- For horses with calcium deposits/bone spurs (including ringbone and side bone) it is important to eliminate synthetic Vitamin D3 and outside sources of calcium from the diet. To do this TLC Animal Nutrition, Inc. suggests replacing commercial grains and any supplements containing significant amounts of these ingredients with our own feed ration found at the bottom of the page under “Feeding Suggestions”. Replacing alfalfa hay with a grass hay will also help reduce calcium intake as well and give us better control over the catalyst in what’s contributing to development of the calcium deposit.
- For horses with other injuries like navicular or fractures there is more versatility to give other supplements along with Equi-Bone, however switching over to the suggested feeding program would be ideal, but not typically 100% necessary
