SPECIAL INGREDIENTS

dac® Formula E & Se provides a balanced vitamin and mineral profile to support normal muscle function, immune function and reproductive function. Adequate amounts of vitamin E and selenium prevent the detrimental interaction of peroxides with lipid membranes of the muscle cell.

Vitamin E – is a fat-soluble vitamin that has an important role as a potent anti-oxidant. It has a concurrent yet independent role with selenium, an essential trace mineral. Together they act to maintain normal muscle function, aid in the prevention of muscular disease and perform as antioxidants to protect body tissues, particularly cell membranes, enzymes and other intracellular substances, from oxidation-induced damage. Horses with an inadequate reserve of antioxidants might experience poor immunity to disease, muscle soreness or stiffness during an exercise bout and prolonged recovery following hard work.

Organic Selenium – Selenium is an essential trace mineral that plays a critical role in metabolism, healthy growth, reproductive health, and immunity. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant to prevent fatty acid oxidation which can cause tissue damage. Selenium also plays a role in the control of thyroid hormone metabolism. Research has shown that Sel-Plex®, an organic form of selenium, is more readily absorbed and retained than selenium in inorganic forms. Sel‐Plex® is the ONLY organic selenium to be reviewed by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Selenium deficiency may be a factor in causing muscle conditions otherwise known as tying-up. In young horses selenium deficiency can manifest as a condition known as white muscle disease.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS

dac® Formula E & Se can be fed with either fortified or unfortified grains. Fortified grains contain added vitamins and minerals. Feed dac® Formula E & Se at the following rates:

Horses less than 500 lbs – Feed ½ scoop (1/2 ounce) per horse per day.

Horses greater than 500 lbs – Feed 1 scoop (1 ounce) per horse per day.

CAUTION For horse use only, keep out of the reach of children. Do not feed more than 1.5 ounces per horse per day. 1.5 ounces provides the maximum amount of selenium allowed by FDA to be fed per horse per day (3 mg). If combined with other sources of selenium do not exceed 0.3 ppm in the complete diet.
